Ethiopia selling its land to the highest bidder- Washington Post Video

10/21/09
The Washington Post reports that Ethiopian government has set aside roughly 4 million acres of land (6,250 square miles), which is roughly half the size of the state of Maryland or more than the entire state of Connecticut, for lease to foreign investors.

Governments across Africa are leasing land to foreign investors who use it to grow food to compensate for their own deficit, or for export. Officials in Ethiopia hope that the investment can help improve agriculture, replacing ox-and-plough with tractors, but some are concerned about whether the deals benefit the lessors. •Who are these "investors"?
•How many Ethiopian farmers are being thrown away from their livelihood?
•Where is all this land located?
•Is anyone listening to Ethiopian farmers?
•Is Tigre land on Sale too
